About the Official Danish Education Programme

Information on lessons, module tests and final exams (PD1, PD2 & PD3).

What is Danskuddannelsen - the official Danish Education Programme?

The Danish Education Programme - Danskuddannelsen - consists of three different but independent programmes, meaning you do not complete all three following one another. You only complete one programme, the one most suitable to you. The programmes are organized based on course participants' various backgrounds and educational levels. Our counselor will determine which programme suits you; you cannot choose yourself.

In the Danish Education Programme you will learn:

  • to speak, understand, read and write Danish

  • authentic and natural pronunciation

  • conversation and communication skills in Danish

  • about Danish culture, society, and history

  • about the Danish labour market, education opportunities, and democracy

  • about the vibrant Danish associations, traditions, and holiday celebrations

Benefits of the official Danish Education Programme

The Danish Education Programme is the official Danish language course, offered by law to every foreigner obtaining residency in Denmark.

You are entitled to free lessons within this programme for up to 5 years after arriving in Denmark. After five years, you are no longer entitled to free lessons. All three programmes are organised so they can be completed within 3 years.

The Danish Education Programme is completed with Prøve i Dansk - a final exam. You can use this examination as documentation, for example to apply for permanent residency, citizenship, or admission to higher education. The different examinations offer varying opportunities.
