As an international student in Denmark, you are eligible for Danish language classes free of charge during your first 5 years here. You only pay a fully refundable deposit of 2.000,- dkkr.
We have made it easy for you to learn Danish alongside your studies and spare time job. Your classes will take place at SDU Vejle and will be adjusted to your study schedule and exam periods. And you will learn together with other international students, giving you a chance to connect and make new friends.
Learning Danish will help you build friendships, both at SDU and in your spare time. It will also increase your job options - for student jobs as well as future career opportunities. Even when it is not required, knowing Danish is always considered a plus.
Although most Danes speak excellent English, Danish is used in everyday life. In our courses, you will learn Danish that is useful to your daily life, from making small talk about your favourite cafés to discussing study projects. You will get valuable cultural insights, learn hygge, and how to pronounce the unique letters æ, ø, and å.
Learning Danish as a student at SDU Vejle is about less feeling like a stranger. More feeling like home.

At the start of the semester, we host informal Danish taster sessions - a simple way for you to experience the language before classes begin.
By signing up above you will also get updates on our taster sessions.
But we can already tell you now that you will be able to meet us at the SDU campus on August 28th.
