The Healthcare Programme
The official Danish Education Programme 3 for nurses or doctors seeking authorization in Denmark. A Danish language course in medical Danish, specifically designed to meet the language needs of working in a Danish hospital.
Course features:
- Danish Language Lessons with emphasis on oral communication and pronunciation.
- Communication Training with focus on effective patient communication.
- Healthcare-Specific Danish focusing on vocabulary and conversational situations relevant to the healthcare system.
- Cultural insights into Danish culture, workplace norms, and the healthcare system.
- Intensive Schedule with classes up to five days per week with full attendance, plus compulsory, daily assignments.
- Career Preparation: While completing the course does not guarantee a job, it provides you with the best possible conditions for seeking employment in the Danish healthcare system.
In our Healthcare Programme, you will study alongside others who, like you, are a healthcare professional and aspire to obtain authorization to work within the Danish healthcare system.
You will engage with teachers experienced in teaching Danish in a healthcare-specific context as well as guest lecturers. Your classes will cover both everyday Danish and a healthcare-specific Danish vocabulary, and in addition, you will participate in seminars on relevant professional or cultural topics. In this way, you will be equipped to complete the Official Danish Education Programme 3 (Danskuddannelse 3) – as well as managing a job in the Danish healthcare system.
In the Healthcare Programme, you will practice patient communication and develop an extensive, healthcare-specific vocabulary. You will learn about Danish culture and workplace norms, as well as cultural expectations within the Danish healthcare system. You will understand employer expectations, how you are expected to care for and nurse patients linguistically, and how to address misunderstandings and unfamiliar situations. With this course, your chances of success as an employee in the Danish healthcare system will be significantly improved.
For more than 15 years, Language Center Vejle has collaborated with Sygehus Lillebælt (Vejle and Kolding Hospitals) in teaching international doctors and nurses the Danish language, healthcare-specific terminology, and cultural understanding before they begin working at hospitals or in psychiatry.
This course is for students in the official Danish Education Programme only. If you have already finished your PD3, please visit this page for information on our course in Medical Danish at Kolding Hospital.
